Galesnjak, Croatia

Location info

Galešnjak, also called the Island of Love, located in the Pašman channel of the Adriatic, is one of the worlds few naturally occurring heart-shaped objects. Worldwide, there are more than 22,000 islands, and from all these islands Galešnjak most resembles the shape of a heart.

The island is unhabitat by people, with only a colony of wild rabbits and a few olives.

The island was highlighted on Google Earth in February 2009, which brought the island to worldwide attention, making it a tourist attraction for couples in love.

Recent activity on the island has created two large scars across the heart, one spanning the island from a pier on the north to the south, and the other to the west of it.
